Cabarrus College is continuing to invest in its students and improve access and affordability with a significant expansion of its scholarship program. The college introduced several new scholarships last year, including the generous Cabarrus Cares Scholarship, which covers up to 100% of tuition and general fees for first-time, full-time North Carolina students who demonstrate financial need.
Now the college offers eight additional scholarships:
Four new scholarships for students enrolling directly from high school:
“These new scholarships represent a significant expansion of our scholarship program and demonstrate our commitment to improving access and affordability for all students who wish to attend Cabarrus College,” said President Cam Cruickshank, PhD. “Investing in our students is a priority for us as we roll out new programs to meet the demand for healthcare professionals in our community.”
Scholarship recipients attest to the difference these scholarships make. “I grew up in the small towns of Troy and Mount Gilead, NC,” said Brianna Shaw, an occupational therapy assistant student. “As a person who wants to help others across the world, it was not easy to find the resources to financially support this dream. As a result of the Cabarrus Cares Scholarship, I have the ability to continue my education as a full-time student while lifting the financial hardship. This has allowed me to focus on my studies to provide high-quality clinical competency in the occupational therapy profession.”
Nursing student Robert Ross agrees. “Receiving the NCCC Partners Scholarship has been an empowering and rewarding experience,” Ross said. “It has created the opportunity to further my education and my career in nursing. I plan to become an ER nurse and eventually advance to an ER nurse manager through the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Cabarrus College.”
