Cabarrus College of Health Sciences has introduced a new graduate program, its Master of Science in Health Sciences (MSHS), offering professionals with a bachelor’s degree and an interest or experience in healthcare an achievable path to earning a master’s degree in as little as one year.
The program’s Healthcare Education and Training track prepares students for in-demand jobs educating future healthcare professionals and offers a nonclinical path to advance in the healthcare field.
“This program is very achievable for working professionals,” said Cabarrus College Associate Professor Rhonda Weaver, EdS, MHA, RT(R)(M)(BD)(CT). “The course blocks are only seven weeks long, and within a year, students can have a master’s degree and credentials that help them climb the career ladder or shift to a different area within healthcare, oftentimes with an accompanying pay boost.”
The program’s focus on healthcare education distinguishes it from other graduate programs (e.g., Master of Health Administration or Master of Education), and its competitive price per credit hour makes it affordable. The 30-credit-hour program is entirely online, with asynchronous instruction that allows students to view recorded lectures on their own schedule at their own pace. It also includes a practicum that can be completed anywhere in the country.
“We anticipate enthusiastic demand for this degree among professionals with a bachelor’s degree who are ready for the new opportunities earning a master’s degree can bring,” said Cabarrus College President Cam Cruickshank, PhD. “Offering healthcare-specific graduate education like this aligns with our vision to be a premier leader in innovative healthcare education, and we’re excited to offer this master’s degree that we will continue to build upon.”
