It's Gonna Be A Great Summer for Discovering Fun in Kannapolis!

Published Wednesday, May 15, 2019

Discover Fun in Kannapolis this year with an incredible lineup of great concerts, movies, festivals, children’s activities and of course, fireworks. Events are held until August.

Headlining an awesome year of terrific music in Kannapolis will be:

Rick Springfield, Morris Day, Sawyer Brown, Too Much Sylvia, the Charlotte Symphony, and Heart Breaker (Heart Tribute Band) & On the Border (Eagles Tribute Band)

Events are free to the public. No pets, please.

Kannapolis City Officials have announced the first new business to downtown. The Armory Beer Company will be opening on West Avenue in the former Rotary Building this Fall.

The craft brewery owners have a unique story. Kyle Lingafelt, Stefan Perrine and Richard Bradley served in the military – two Marines and an Army Paratrooper. After completing deployments in Afghanistan, they met while in college earning their master’s degrees in business administration at the University of Southern California. They plan to employ veterans. You will notice that the names of their beers are all military related.

The building will be renovated with a classical look that reflects the World War I and 1920’s era. Opening day, the brewery will have two beer gardens with multiple food truck options readily available. Armory Beer Company also plans to offer live music entertainment.

With the completion of the walkway between the VIDA Apartments and the brewery, a third beer garden will open in July 2020, adding additional space for patrons to relax, unwind and enjoy the events planned at the brewery and in downtown.

Residents Graduate from
Police & Fire Academies

A number of City of Kannapolis residents have graduated from the police and fire academies. Held separately, each academy concentrates on the services and functions of the Kannapolis Police and Fire Departments and provide citizens with a better understanding of what it takes to be a firefighter or police officer.

Citizens participating in the free ten week fire academy toured fire stations, learned the history of fire service, fire prevention, education and investigation, emergency driving, rescue operations and more.

The police academy attendees participated in classes on all aspects of the department such as patrol operations, traffic enforcement, defensive driving, firearms, K-9 operations, special operations (SWAT), felony investigations, interaction with the courts, community service programs, etc.

Both academies will be held again in Spring 2020.
