The Cabarrus Chamber recently had the pleasure of celebrating Knockout, A Hair Studio's 5 year anniversary with a cake cutting!
Founded by April Walker, who brings an impressive 33 years of experience to the salon industry, Knockout offers a refreshing take on hair care. April’s mission? To create a welcoming space for all, especially those who may not feel at home in traditional salons.
April established Knockout in 2024, but started her current iteration of her salon with employees on November 5, 2019, in Concord, where she set out to build a salon where individuality is celebrated. “I wanted my salon to be the home for people that feel like misfits in other environments,” says April. “Whether they be stylists or clients, we don’t all look alike, and that should be celebrated.” True to her vision, Knockout has become a sanctuary for inclusivity and creativity, offering services in curls, hair color, gender-affirming haircuts, wig installations, and loc maintenance. Every service reflects April and her team’s respect for each client’s unique needs and style.
Knockout’s recent recognition as a Bronze winner in Charlotte’s Best for hair salons in 2024 attests to their exceptional approach to hair care and service. April and her team’s commitment to creating a welcoming atmosphere and delivering top-notch services has made Knockout a standout in the region.
As a Cabarrus Chamber member, April has been able to connect more deeply with the community, generating awareness and support for her small business. “The people at the Chamber have always been warm, welcoming, and encouraging,” April shared. “I appreciate the support and awareness of my business that being a member provides.” Through her membership, April has found not just business connections but also a genuine sense of belonging and support for Knockout Hair Studio.
