The Chamber joined the Junior Charity League to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Mariam C. Schramm Clothing Room with a ribbon cutting!
Founded in 1930, the Mariam C. Schramm Clothing Room provides brand new clothes and necessary hygiene products to more than 1,000 students each year. The organization also provides eye exams and new eyeglasses to over 30 students. Students from Cabarrus County Schools and Kannapolis City Schools are identified by school personnel to get the experience of visiting the clothing room to choose brand new clothes.
The Junior Charity League is a nonprofit organization that was founded by a group of women in Concord to serve neighbors in need. Throughout their years in the community, they have provided meals and clothing to school-aged children, assisted the elderly in nursing homes, and partnered with the local women's shelter to provide babysitting for moms in need. The organization is motivated by women who seek to help other women and children in our community.
Currently, the Junior Charity League struggles to find members to serve to continue their legacy and volunteers to work in their clothing room. As members of The Chamber, they hope to raise awareness for their organization in the hope of increasing their membership, volunteer base and donor base.
