CCM My Father's House Annex at Memorial Baptist Church

1785 Dale Earnhardt Blvd | Kannapolis, NC 28083

Cooperative Christian Ministry (CCM) invited The Chamber to the opening of the 'My Father's House Annex' in partnership with the Cabarrus Health Alliance, The SUN Clinic, and Memorial Baptist Church.

CCM was founded after the closing of the mill in 1981. During that time, seven Concord churches (All Saints Episcopal, Central United Methodist, Concord Associate Reformed Presbyterian, First Presbyterian, Forest Hill United Methodist, St. James Catholic, and St. James Lutheran) organized a steering committee to establish a crisis assistance ministry in Cabarrus County. Later that year, the doors of the Cabarrus Cooperative Christian Ministry opened with a handful of volunteers, and a fierce belief in the rightness of its mission. CCM was formed to provide financial assistance as well as canned food and clothing, providing these services to as many as 3,000 people during its first year.

Ed Hosack, the Chief Executive Officer of CCM, serves our community by providing leadership and insight to numerous community initiatives. His previous career in textiles allowed him to establish a strong connection with many local workers and their families. The loss of the mill in 2003 inspired Ed's transition to nonprofit ministry and instilled in him a desire to design and create solutions to address households in financial crisis in our community. Since joining CCM in 2005, the organization has grown to include transitional housing and other new programs and services to meet the nutritional, financial, and housing needs of families with children, working-age adults in transition, and senior adults living alone.

Today, CCM is Cabarrus County's primary Crisis Assistance provider, offering a network of food pantries, crisis financial assistance, and a continuum of housing program.

The 'My Father's House Annex' will provide housing access and residential support as part of an interdisciplinary team to address the needs of women with children, including those with high-risk pregnancies, and substance use complications. Their team has developed a solution-focused participatory-development plan that supports measurable goals and moves families forward through a supportive care management approach, providing the path to become well and stable by directly achieving the participants' goals.

CCM's membership to The Chamber has provided their organization with several benefits, including networking opportunities, access to resources and information, advocacy support, and visibility within the community. CCM was also presented The Chamber's Nonprofit of the Year Award in 2023, recognizing the organization for its impact on our local communities.
