The Chamber recently joined Academy Closet to celebrate their grand opening with a ribbon cutting.
Academy Closet was opened by Courtney Little on August 18, 2023. The idea came from Courtney's desire to bring hope and confidence to applicants entering or reentering the workforce. She stated that the "first impression is a lasting impression when stepping into the workforce and we want to ensure that won't be a concern when seeking employment."
The organization's mission is to engage underprivileged and underserved communities through their Dress 2 Impress Closet. Their vision is to champion employability through work skills development and distribution of work clothes.
Academy Closet offers 5 skill building classes that are effective for resume building. They also offer a "Closet" for class participants to grab a full outfit in preparation for their interview call.
As for their membership with The Chamber, they look forward to new partnerships with their community neighbors. They want to work to build a growing ecosystem for their participants that includes job placement, transportation, child care and general support.
Currently, Academy Closet is working to fill their closet to capacity with professional clothing donations, including shoes and accessories. Be sure to visit their links below to see how you can help out!
