Cabarrus College Paves the Way to a Career in Healthcare

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences, which is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year, is already the least expensive – and fastest-growing – private college in North Carolina.* But the college isn’t content to rest on its “least expensive” laurels and is continuing to improve affordability for local students with the establishment of new scholarships.

The centerpiece of the college’s aid program is the new Cabarrus Cares Scholarship, which covers up to 100% of tuition and general fees for first-time, full-time North Carolina students who demonstrate financial need.

“The Cabarrus Cares Scholarship is transformational, not only for students but for the college and our community as well,” said President Cam Cruickshank, PhD. “We have many scholarships for existing students who are continuing their studies, but Cabarrus Cares is the first scholarship we’ve offered for incoming new students. And it’s significant. By covering up to 100% of tuition, this scholarship ensures that any first-year student from North Carolina who seeks a career in healthcare can attend Cabarrus College, graduate virtually debt-free, and have a prosperous, stable career while helping alleviate the shortage of healthcare professionals our community faces.”

In addition to the Cabarrus Cares Scholarship, the college now offers the following new scholarships:

  • 1942 Club Alumni Association Scholarship, a $1,000 need- and merit-based award for new students
  • Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship, a $1,000 award for new transfer students inducted into the PTK Honor Society
  • Transfer Student Legacy Scholarship, a $500 scholarship for new transfer students who are dependents of college alumni
  • Atrium Health Teammate Dependent Scholarship, a $1,000 award for new, full-time students who are dependents of Atrium Health teammate
