Each year, the Leadership Cabarrus class completes a class legacy project that addresses a pressing community need in a significant way.
The Class of 2024 partnered with 1Can, a Cabarrus County nonprofit, to build two Blessing Boxes where those needing food can access it freely.
The two boxes are located at Weddington Hills Elementary School (WHES) and Gibson Mill, both places identified as key areas to support those in need. We held a ribbon cutting for the WHES box on May 2, 2024!
Additionally, they held a food drive to collect food to stock the boxes, updated marketing materials for 1Can and raised $15,000 in corporate sponsorships to keep these and other boxes stocked!
Thanks to Builders First Source in Harrisburg, Morrison Brothers Building Center and Sherwin Williams for generously donating building supplies.
Class of 2021 endowed a scholarship at Rowan-Cabarrus Community College for a deserving Cabarrus County Schools or Kannapolis City Schools’ graduate, and this year’s recipient will attend RCCC to study psychology with a $500 scholarship.
Class of 2022 began the Leadership Cabarrus Alumni Association whose purpose is to continue community service, learning and fellowship opportunities for Leadership Cabarrus graduates. They are offering a partial scholarship ($650) for a small business owner or nonprofit leader to attend Leadership Cabarrus, Class 2025.
While we think the information learned through Leadership Cabarrus is quite valuable, we also recognize the importance of the class projects for the community, and for the camaraderie these service projects build between class members.

There are four partial scholarships available for small business owners and nonprofit managers, compliments of Duke Energy, F&M Bank, Uwharrie Bank and Leadership Cabarrus Alumni Association. The deadline to apply for these is May 29. For all others applying, the general deadline is June 28.
