Downtown Concord Hosts Annual Spring into Arts Festival

Published Monday, April 30, 2018

CONCORD, N.C., April 26, 2018 – The 2018 Spring into Arts Festival will take place in Downtown Concord on Saturday, May 12, from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. The festival stretches along three blocks of Union Street, from in front of the Concord Library (27 Union Street, North) to the intersection of Union Street and Corban Avenue.

The center-piece of the festival is a juried art show, with more than twenty artists participating. Each artist has a booth where they both display and sell their work. Additional works will be available from Red Hands Coop on the artist row, as well as at the Cabarrus Art Guild (11 Union Street, South, lower level) and The Galleries at the Cabarrus Arts Council (65 Union Street, South).

Creation Station, the festival’s children’s area, will take up the entire courthouse block along Union Street from Means Avenue to Corban Avenue. This year’s library’s theme is Art Rocks, with the Concord Parks and Recreation Department focusing on Making Noise. Together there will be a wide variety of hands-on activities for children to enjoy all day long. The Creation Station Stage will feature a full schedule of live performances featuring professional and amateur performers.

At the “other end” of the festival will be the #CreativeHappensHere Stage, where local and regional musicians and dancers will provide plenty of entertainment! Enjoy circus-inspired acts, Bluegrass and Americana jam sessions, belly dancing, and more!

Along the artist row, five breweries and three wineries will have a variety of beverages available for sale. In addition, Downtown Concord’s diverse restaurants and eateries will be open to provide plenty of great food throughout the day.

The Spring into Arts Festival is an event of the Concord Downtown Development Corporation, the City of Concord, and the Historic Concord Preservation Trust. The CDDC wishes to thank the City of Concord Parks and Recreation Department and the Concord Library for their partnership in planning and staffing this event.

The Concord Downtown Development Corporation is committed to fostering continued growth and redevelopment in the Downtown Concord Municipal Service District through promotion, design and business redevelopment.
